Saturday 16th September London Double Header

Wonderful weather greeted the Under 10's for the LDH Tag Festival at the Stoop on Saturday.   In preparation we had run an additional training session at Twyford Avenue on previous Wednesday evening to reacquaint the team with the nuances of Tag. A squad of 10 played 4 matches against tough opposition.  In the first match we were well outplayed, losing 6-1 to an excellent Crowbrough team.  This team went on to top the try scoring table across the whole U10 year group.   We played better in the second fixture but again lost by 6-3 to Hertford in a closer match. The team switched on and really competed in the 3rd match.  A much more keenly fought affair with the lead changing hands 3 times.  Unfortunately we crossed the opposition's line (Andover) 3 times only for the try to be disallowed for diving.  Special mentions for Jae Kim and Tristan Flint As the timing hooter went the score was level 2-2.  However Andover squeaked over before the final whistle winning 3-2, a very frustrating result. Finally in the last game we took hold of our destiny with great running play from David Bull and a match-winning try from captain Simran Mander.  Final Score v Reading 4-3.   We had come good but too little too late and not enough to make it across the road to play at Twickenham.   However the day was enjoyed by all who took part.
