14^th October v Harrow

 

Yet another sunny Sunday allowed parents/players to recover from their World Cup excesses/late night and welcome Harrow RFC.  After a brief warm up and individual team drills we got stuck straight into matches against 2 Harrow teams,  6 matches were played in total with the final tally of:

 

Won 3, Lost 2 Drawn 1

Match 1B   Buccaneers v Harrow B      Won 6-0

 

Match 2A    Spartans v Harrow           Lost 0-2

Match 2B    Cubans v Harrow             Won 7-3 

 

Match 3A    Spartans v Harrow           Drawn 1-1

Match 3B    Buccaneers v Harrow        Won 6-3

 

With 21 tries, apologies (and let me know) if I have missed a couple of scorers but congratulations to Hippolyte Astolfi, Ben White, Zak Wilkinson, Nicolas Olivier, Jamie Edkins, Raphael Picard, Tristan Flint.  

 

In defence Hugo French & Haydn Popper deserve a mention with strong and straight running from Louis Boulton & Sam Cunningham.  Equally impressive was how all players in the 3 teams fully committed themselves with a real determination and effort against a well drilled opposition.   Particularly pleasing was the man on man tacking and driving in the maul.  Areas to work on are clearing out in the ruck and spreading the ball wide from set pieces.  We now have 3 weeks of training at Twyford to work on these before the triangular fixture v Ealing & Farnham in early November.
