Sunday 18th November Wasps v London Irish v Saracens

28 players made the trip to Sunbury as the temperatures had plummeted with a vicious cold wind sweeping across the London Irish ground.  Despite arriving in good time we had to wait until after 1100 for our first matches.   However the time was not wasted with the coaches running 3 stations focusing on Passing, Tackling, Rucks & Mauls.

Cubans

After last weekends disappointing performance the team rallied and played their best rugby of the Season.  David Ambler stepped up to the team and lead by example.

v Saracens

A very physical game, which was incredibly keenly fought.   Wasps where extremely unlucky to not go into half time with a lead.  David Bull was just forced into touch shy of the try line.  Despite some excellent defence Saracens managed to scrap over the line for a single, match-winning try

Result Lost 0-1

v London Irish

The team was straight back on again for a game versus hosted London Irish.  Going down a try in the first half, the team rallied in the second with a tremendous rolling maul pushed over the line allowing Hugo French to touch down for a try.  Spirited defence held out the Irish for a well-deserved draw.

Result Draw  1-1

Buccaneers

Again the team played considerably better than last week.   Saracens bullied there way to victory in the first match after some poor tackling against a single huge forward.  A more keenly fought affair against London Irish with excellent play from Jamie Edkins and tries from Hippolyte Astolfi

v Saracens ?

v London Irish lost 2-4

Spartans

Again the Spartans had some hard fought games playing 2 matches versus a London Irish Team.   Try scorers included Hugo Bailey and Raphael Picard with 2 in each match.  Details are sparse but I believe the results were?

Match 1 v London Irish Lost 2-3

Match 2 v London Irish Won 4-3

All in all a much more determined performance than the games the previous week with the players showing some real determination……bring on Finchley!
